Moor's Heads

The Moor's Heads are one of the most iconic symbols of Sicilian tradition and represent one of the most recognizable expressions of Caltagirone ceramics.

Their origins lie in an ancient legend set in the Kalsa district of Palermo, during the Arab domination of Sicily. The story recounts the intense love between a young Sicilian woman and a Moorish man, a tale that over time has become a symbol of passion, identity, and historical memory. From this story arose the custom of making head-shaped vases, which have become a distinctive element of the island's ceramic art.

Today, Moor's Heads are not just decorative objects, but cultural testimonies that embody the encounter between peoples and the historical stratification of Sicily.

In this collection, you'll find Moorish Heads handcrafted and decorated in Caltagirone, modeled using artisanal techniques passed down through the ages. Each piece features slight variations in shape, expression, and glaze, demonstrating their authenticity and non-industrial production. Each creation is signed by the ceramist.

Displayed in pairs or individually, they become the centerpieces of any space thanks to their striking visual presence. They're often chosen as a thoughtful gift or to preserve a memento of a trip to Sicily.

Upon request, some variations can be customized in colors or details, transforming each creation into an even more personal project.

THE ART OF CREATING AND MAKING YOUR WISHES COME TRUE.

Each La Siciliana creation takes shape in the laboratory, where the ceramic tradition continues to live on through manual labor and attention to detail.
